HBTC Multiple Personality Review: JSK Nuggs Habano

Nuggs? NUGGS? Yes, that’s right. In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, you probably noticed how the CBD Market is absolutely exploding in popularity. CBD is Cannabidiol, one of the many cannabinoid compounds found in Cannabis plants. As with most subjects that invoke the word Cannabis, CBD is widely misunderstood. The JSK Nuggs is the first Premium Cigar that is expressly made to deliver a measured dose of CBD. Each cigar delivers 20mg of Hemp-Derived CBD to the smoker. But as a premium cigar, how does it stack up? Let’s find out.

Prologue

Garret: The cello label has a QR Code that will bring you to a site that gives you all the info about the CDB content. Even though it’s required, that is still kinda cool. The robusto is well rolled with a double cap. The aroma from the foot is very unique. Unclear if CBD has any odor but I can’t put my finger on the notes I’m smelling.

Matt: It has a really nice look. The wrapper is very oily, and the cigar is cleanly rolled across the board. The wrapper has a faint smell of cedar, and the foot has a distinctive floral note, along with some cinnamon and spice. The cold draw is open, and has notes of mint and more of that cedar.

Act I

Garret: The flavors! Right away this guy has some new and great flavors… Can I put a finger on those flavors? Nope, but I like what I’m getting. Tons of smoke and a perfect draw make this a great start.

Matt: Like many Ecuadorian Habano cigars, I get a little black pepper and charred wood at the very beginning. That mellows quickly into some cedar, leather, and something like roasted nuts. The retrohale has some sweetness, with a little baking spice.

Act II

Garret: Near perfect burn line has me confident at this point I don’t have to worry about construction or touch ups. That flavor profile… is that cinnamon? Not really. Is it hay? No. Wait. I know, It’s a freaking fig
newton! I’m smoking a damned fig newton and how fun is that?

Matt: The middle of the cigar is weird. Not bad, just weird. I am getting cinnamon, floral, and spice notes. I also get more of the cedar and leather from earlier. Strangest thing is, I also get some kind of minty note that I can’t really explain and something that reminds me of citrus. The retrohale has some of everything, but isn’t too spicy at all.

Act III

Garret: The figs have fermented into a dark cocoa and a bitter chocolate it is. A slight spice comes through at the end of the exhale. I’m going to nub this thing because I want all 5mg of CBD to see if I can feel it. To take the CBD out of the conversation for a second and just talk about the cigar. Yum. Nubbed it and enjoyed to the very end. Did I feel it? About 10 minutes after, I was still sitting in my chair, melting and relaxed. I got ready for be a short time later and fell asleep faster than I have in a long long time.

Matt: The minty and floral notes are in the front, but not bitter or overpowering. They justy compliment the background sweetness. I also get something like espresso or a sweet dark coffee and more of that citrus from earlier. The cinnamon and cedar are still there, and the retrohale is still smooth and buttery with barely a hint of that baking spice on the very end.

Epilogue

Garret: The JSK Nugs stands up well on it’s own with or without CBD. Unique flavors and great performance make this a great cigar, and one many may fear is a gimmicky cigar for hippies. That is not the case at all. I was shocked in the flavors and the clear effects of the CBD. At a great MSRP, this may quickly become a favorite night time smoke.

Matt: Before I even smoked this cigar, I told myself that I needed to judge it under the same criteria as any other Premium Cigar. In that respect, the JSK Nuggs holds its own just fine. Of the three I have smoked so far, each burned very well, and gave plenty of flavorful smoke output. Quite simply, it’s a tasty little cigar with some unique twists. As for the benefits of CBD, the first sample gave me nothing at all. Since I had never tried CBD in any form, I didn’t know what to think. That being said, the next two samples definitely showed me what can be some of the benefits of CBD. I genuinely felt my heart rate slow, and felt mildly relaxed. Even though I am not a regular CBD user, I can see myself enjoying one of these on those especially stressful nights.
